Ras Mohammed Shore Snorkeling, Mangroves & Magic Lake Tour
Where the Sinai desert cracks open onto the Red Sea's oldest reef — and you wade straight in from the shore.
Overview
Just thirty minutes south of your hotel, the Sinai desert runs out of land and drops straight into the Red Sea. This is Ras Mohammed — Egypt's first national park — and today you'll explore it the way few visitors do: from the shore, with a mask and fins and only a few steps of warm sand between you and the reef.
You'll pass through the park's Allah Gate and follow the coast to a coral garden that begins in the shallows. Slip in and the water turns to glass — parrotfish grazing the reef, clouds of orange anthias, perhaps a turtle drifting by. Back on land you'll walk among mangrove trees that have learned to drink saltwater, and stand at the edge of an ancient crack the earth tore open long ago.
Then comes the Magic Lake — a pool so dense with salt that you float without trying. Locals say a swim here brings good luck; either way, its mineral-rich water leaves your skin soft for days. Climb the low cliff above the coast and you'll see both the Gulf of Suez and the Gulf of Aqaba at once, desert mountains on one side and endless blue on the other.
Your guide takes care of the park fees, the driving and the best snorkel spots, so all you carry is a towel and your curiosity. Choose the shared group trip for the friendly, best-value option, or go private for a car and guide of your own — either way you're back at your hotel by early afternoon, sun-warmed and salt-rinsed.

Absolutely brilliant shore snorkeling tour! This is perfect if you prefer not to go on a boat - we snorkeled directly from the beach which was much more relaxing. We were picked up promptly from our hotel and the 30-minute drive to the national park was comfortable. The Allah Gate at the entrance is stunning - such a unique natural rock formation. The snorkeling at Suez Gulf was fantastic - crystal clear water with so many colorful fish and beautiful coral reefs right from the shore. Perfect for beginners or families. The mangrove forest was fascinating - our guide explained how these special trees thrive in salty water. The Salt Lake was incredible - the high salt concentration means you float effortlessly like in the Dead Sea! Very therapeutic and the views of mountains and dunes were gorgeous. We also saw the massive earthquake crack which was impressive. Everything was well-organized with a knowledgeable and friendly guide. Great value for money. Highly recommend!
Świetna wycieczka ze snorkelingiem z brzegu! Nie potrzeba łodzi, co jest idealne. Koralowce i ryby tuż przy plaży. Mangrowy fascynujące, Słone Jezioro magiczne - pływasz jak w Morzu Martwym! Brama Allaha piękna. Przewodnik bardzo pomocny. Polecam!
