Hurghada Day Trip: Giza Pyramids & Grand Egyptian Museum
By sunrise you've crossed the desert; by noon you're standing inside the last Wonder of the ancient world.
Overview
The van comes for you in the dark, around 2:00 AM, while the Red Sea resorts are still asleep. Settle in with a pillow, doze through the desert, and wake to sunrise over the Gulf of Suez with Cairo drawing closer — five thousand years of Egypt waiting at the end of the road. This is the day for travellers who came for more than the beach.
At Giza your Egyptologist walks you fast-track into the Grand Egyptian Museum, the largest museum ever built for a single civilization. For the first time since it left his tomb, Tutankhamun's complete collection stands together here — the mask, the thrones, the chariots, more than five thousand pieces belonging to one nineteen-year-old king — among a hundred thousand artefacts your guide turns from objects into people. Then it's an Egyptian BBQ lunch at a local restaurant before the short drive to the plateau itself.
Up on the plateau, the horizon changes. The Pyramids of Giza are the last of the Seven Wonders of the ancient world still standing, and no photograph has ever done them justice. Your ticket takes you inside the Great Pyramid itself — bent low in a passage cut for a pharaoh, four and a half thousand years of stone above your head. Consider this as you climb: Cleopatra lived closer in time to you than to the builders of this tomb. Outside, the Sphinx has been watching the sun rise since before history had a name.
There's a stop where all three pyramids line up in a single frame, a walk through the Valley Temple, and a little time for shopping before the long ride home — you'll reach your hotel late in the evening, tired in the best possible way. The beach will still be there tomorrow. But you'll have stood inside a Wonder of the world, and that goes home with you for good.

The day trip was great, our guide was the best part about the trip he was so knowledgeable about the pyramids history as he himself has a doctorate. Really recommend as he really makes the experience.
Our guide, Muchtar, was great! He shared lots of useful Information and tips to get the most out of our tour. The museum is in the process of moving to the new site so some areas were off limits or already packed up but there was still plenty to see. The drivers were also really friendly and were excellent with the younger members of the group. We did the tour in early June and the temperature around the 3pm stop for the pyramids was very challenging. We didn’t like the horse carriage ride and felt uneasy about the treatment of the animal Overall we had a brilliant day but the site would do better to appeal to tourists is they showed more care for their animals.
Merci 🙏 😊👍
