Cairo: Sightseeing Tour to Pyramids of Giza & Sphinx
Overview
Begin this half-day tour of the Pyramids of Giza and the Sphinx straight from your hotel in Cairo. Head toward the Pyramids of Cheops, Chephren, and Mykerinus and discover the oldest of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World, and the only one to remain largely intact. Egyptologists believe the Pyramid of Cheops (also known as the Great Pyramid of Giza) was built as a tomb for the Egyptian Pharaoh Khofo and constructed over a 14 to 20-year period in 2560 BC.
Afterwards, continue on toward the Great Sphinx. The Sphinx has the head of a pharaoh with a lion's body and dates back to the time of Chephren. This sphinx was made to guard the pyramids of King Chefren. Next, visit the Valley Temple which belonged to the Pyramids of Chephren. The temple acted as a place for the purification and mummification process of the king before burial.

What an incredible experience seeing the pyramids up close! Our guide Fatima was exceptional - her knowledge of ancient Egyptian history was impressive and she explained everything clearly and enthusiastically. The Great Pyramid is truly awe-inspiring when you're standing next to it, and the Sphinx was much larger than I expected. The three-hour duration was perfect - enough time to see everything important without getting overwhelmed by the heat or information overload. The air-conditioned vehicle was clean and comfortable, and our driver was skilled at navigating Cairo's chaotic traffic. Fatima also helped us avoid the more persistent vendors and took some great photos for us. The included bottled water was a thoughtful touch in the heat. This tour is perfect for anyone with limited time in Cairo who wants to see these ancient wonders with an expert guide. Worth every penny!
