Hard corals
200+ species – staghorn, table, brain and pillar corals form complex reef structures right off the beach. Annual mass-spawning events in spring.
Soft corals
Colorful leather corals and gorgonians in the deeper sections of the reef. Especially photogenic with dive lights or action cameras.
Tropical fish
Over 1,000 species – butterflyfish, surgeonfish, angelfish, clownfish, wrasses and triggerfish in spectacular schools.
Sea turtles
Hawksbill and Green sea turtles regularly visit Mahmya's reefs. Best chance to spot them: 8–11 AM in the shallower reef sections.
Dolphins
Spinner, bottlenose and common dolphins regularly cross the bay. Encounters aren't guaranteed but are a frequent highlight of the boat ride.
Rays, morays & more
Bluespotted ribbontail rays on the sandy bottom, giant morays in caves, octopus, scorpionfish and occasionally peaceful reef sharks in the deeper sections.
